Upper Pressure

A collection of songs developed over the last two years from multiple improvisational and experimental sessions using unconventional instruments and methods. Heavy use of cassette tape loop recordings comprising of kalimba, synthesizers and other instruments; various tape configurations/players paired with delay, reverb and other effects, often became the starting point to the compositions.

The pandemic allowed for seclusion in the studio - providing a nostalgic, playful indulgence of sound. The majority of the sessions took place in the winter months, in an area that sees more cloudy, grey days than the majority of the country. While climate and isolation set the mood, there are signs of hope and optimism within the organic flowing arrangements.

The physical release is a limited edition of 20 that includes a clear, 10" lathe cut record, cassette tape and signed/numbered fine art linocut block print.
